This website sets two cookies. Neither tracks you, and there are no third-party cookies because the site loads nothing from third parties.

The cookies

• PHPSESSID — keeps your form submission secure against cross-site request forgery. Expires when you close your browser. Strictly necessary.
• vx_notice — remembers that you dismissed the cookie notice, so it does not reappear on every page. Expires after six months.

We count visits, without cookies

The site records which pages are read. It uses no cookie for this and stores no identifier you could be traced by.

To count a visit rather than a page view, it makes a short one-way hash of your address and browser mixed with a secret that changes at midnight. Two pages read in the same hour count as one visit. Tomorrow the secret is different, so the same browser is unrecognisable — there is deliberately no way to follow anybody across days, and the stored hash cannot be worked backwards to an address.

If you chose Essential only, no visit hash is recorded for you at all; your page view is counted and nothing else. That choice does something real.

Nothing is sent to any other company. There is no analytics script on this site.

Why there is no "reject" button

A consent banner exists to give you a genuine choice about non-essential tracking. There is no non-essential tracking here to refuse. Offering a reject button that does nothing would be theatre, so instead the notice simply tells you what is set.

If we ever add analytics, this page changes first and the notice becomes a real choice with a real refusal.

Clearing them

Both can be cleared from your browser settings at any time. The site works fine without them, though you may see the notice again.
